Description :
The main buildng of the Fagus shoe factory in Alfeld, Germany, is a
seminal structure in the history of modern architecture. Design by Bauhaus
founder Walter Gropius and Adolf Meyer, the factory achieved an innovative
optical effect in a curtain of glass: the walls seemed to vanish.
Fagus traces the history of the company and its buildings from 1911
through the late 1920s. I also focuses on the concept of industrial
culture, in which architecture, interior design, graphic design, and
photography were interrelated with the company's business philosophy.
